The Houston Embroiderers’ Guild is pleased to announce our second annual
retreat! We had such a great time; we’re going to do it again!! There will be
some new surprises and fun hands-on “entertainment”. We also now have a
“Falling Needles” amulet bag pattern and a one-sided panel pattern which you
will receive when you register. Attendees will also receive a 2011 charm the
last day of Retreat. Sign up now!!
The HEG “Falling Needles” Retreat will be held at Camp Allen, 18800 FM 362,
Navasota, Texas 77868, www.campallen.org. Join us while we stitch with
friends and commune amongst the fall foliage and quivering pines. You
MUST be a member of HEG to attend the Retreat.
All Conference Center hotel rentals include three (3) buffet meals per day. In
addition to the buffet, a pasta, potato, soup and salad bar is available.
Beverages include tea, milk, juices, coffee, cocoa, and water, which are
available 24 hours/day. Beer and wine are available for an additional charge.
Mealtimes are 8:00am, noon and 6:00pm, with the exception of Friday’s
dinner which is 7:00pm.
The Conference center “hotel” rooms are just steps from the Conference
Center where our “Stitching Room” and the Dining Hall are located. Concrete
walkways accommodate walkers and wheelchairs. The hotel rooms are new
and beautifully appointed with handmade quilts hanging in every room.
These are multi-story, but elevators and stairs are easily accessible. ALERT:
There are no TV’s in the hotel rooms. The TV lounge is very close to the
hotel rooms.
Check-in is 3:00pm at the Conference Center. We will have our own
Registration table in the foyer which will be manned at 2:00pm. Every effort
will be made by Camp Allen to accommodate guests arriving before the check-
in time of 3:00pm. However, if you arrive too early, you may be walking nature
trails for a while. The “Stitching Room” will be available at 3:00pm on
Wednesday. Be sure to bring your extension cords and lights. Our room is
nice and bright, but that room might change depending on our numbers!
Included amenities include free WIFI, Fitness Center, Sauna, TV Lounge,
swimming pool, tennis courts, nature trails, a complimentary computer room in
the Business Center and Chapel Services (Tuesday-Saturday 7:30am & 5:
00pm & Sunday Holy Eucharist 9:00am).
Amenities with fees paid to Camp Allen are Guided Nature Walks, Canoeing,
Kayaking, Instructed Horse Ride, Horseback Trail Ride, Skeet Shooting, &
Massage. Massages must be booked 2 weeks in advance with a minimum of
3 hours and maximum of 5 hours. You’ll need to get together with friends to
book a combination that equals at least 3 hours.
We cannot bring our own snacks or beverages for use in the “Stitching
Room”. We can bring snacks and beverages (including wine and spirits) for
own use in our hotel rooms.
